01
Artifact Overview
For 1958, Ford Motor Company introduced a new mid-priced brand to better compete with General Motors and Chrysler. Edsel came in four separate series. The upper-level Corsair featured a Mercury-inspired body and a generous application of chrome. The two-door hardtop coupe started at $3,311. Edsel was not a success. Ford discontinued the brand during the 1960 model year.
