Celebrating Ninety: Collecting in the 1970s
We're celebrating our 90th birthday by looking, decade by decade, at significant additions to our collection. During the 1970s, we acquired Daggett Farmhouse, the Brewster chair, and President John F. Kennedy's Lincoln limousine.

We're celebrating our 90th birthday by looking, decade by decade, at significant additions to our collection. During the 1960s, we acquired Mustang Serial Number One, the first portable superheterodyne radio receiver, and the Torch Lake steam train.
- Freedmen’s Bureau: Exercising Citizenship - President Abraham Lincoln signed The Freedmen’s Bureau Act on March 3, 1865, to provide food, clothing, fuel, and temporary shelter to freedmen, their wives, and children in areas of insurrection (in other words, within the Confederate States).

President Abraham Lincoln signed The Freedmen’s Bureau Act on March 3, 1865, to provide food, clothing, fuel, and temporary shelter to freedmen, their wives, and children in areas of insurrection (in other words, within the Confederate States).

After World War II they married and invested wholeheartedly in farming believing it could provide peace of mind and sustenance for the family, with income supplemented by outside work.

Lois and Robert Kelley craved outdoor space and projects to absorb their enthusiasm for life. After World War II they married and invested wholeheartedly in farming believing it could provide peace of mind and sustenance for the family, with income supplemented by outside work.
- Take Me to the River: Managing Water Runoff at The Henry Ford - The roof of The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation covers nearly 12 acres. A one-inch rainfall results in almost 326,000 gallons of water landing on that expansive roof.
