- Nuclear Power Protest Apron, 1973-1982 - Carrie Dickerson -- a community activist who led an effort to prevent the construction of a nuclear power plant near Claremore, Oklahoma -- created this apron depicting alternative energy sources. Dickerson and her husband spent their retirement savings and mortgaged their farm to pay for legal proceedings and fees.
